The 2024 Hurun India Rich List highlights the impressive accomplishments of India’s young entrepreneurs, who are at the forefront of innovation and industry disruption. According to the list released on August 29, the number of dollar billionaires in India has surged to 334, marking a 29 percent increase over the past year, with a new billionaire being added every five days. The youngest billionaires in the country are Harshil Mathur and Shashank Kumar, both 33 years old and founders of RazorPay, a payment solutions app.
The youngest entrant on the rich list is 21-year-old Kaivalya Vohra of Zepto, followed by his co-founder Aadit Palicha, who ranks as the second youngest at 22 years old. The list includes 11 individuals born in the 90s. The threshold for the 2024 rich list was set at ₹1,000 crore, featuring a total of 1,539 individuals, an increase of 220 from last year.
Neha Bansal, co-founder of the eyewear retail company Lenskart, is the youngest self-made woman entrepreneur on the list at 42 years old.
The 2024 Hurun list highlights the richest Indians globally, marking its 13th edition. Wealth calculations are based on a snapshot as of July 31, 2024. This year, 1,539 individuals across 134 cities have amassed over ₹1,000 crore, an increase of 220 from last year. India now boasts 334 billionaires, 75 more than the previous year. The list includes 55 technology startup founders, with a combined wealth of ₹2,87,100 crore. Notably, a record 1,008 entrepreneurs (65%) are self-made, underscoring India’s strong entrepreneurial spirit.
