Three Terrorists Accused of Grenade Attack on Punjab Police Killed in Uttar Pradesh Encounter
Lucknow: Three terrorists accused of launching a grenade attack on a police post in Punjab’s Gurdaspur were killed in an encounter with police in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit, sources revealed.
The gunfight occurred last night between the suspects and a joint team of Uttar Pradesh and Punjab police. According to officials, the police attempted to apprehend the men, but the suspects opened fire, prompting retaliation. The injured suspects—Gurwinder Singh, Virendra Singh, and Jasanpreet Singh—succumbed to their injuries, sources said.
Authorities recovered two AK-series rifles and two Glock pistols from the scene. Punjab Police identified the three as members of the Pakistan-backed Khalistan Zindabad Force, a terror module involved in grenade attacks on police establishments in Punjab’s border areas.
“This terror module is responsible for the grenade attack on a police post in Gurdaspur. The encounter occurred within the jurisdiction of Puranpur Police Station, Pilibhit, during a joint operation by Punjab and Uttar Pradesh police,” Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said in a statement on X. He added that investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of the module’s activities.
Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar praised the operation, calling it a “daredevil” mission and a testament to the strong coordination between the two state police forces.
Punjab Police Stations Targeted in Series of Explosions, Khalistani Terrorist Link Suspected
Three police stations in Punjab came under attack within a week, with security agencies suspecting the involvement of Khalistani terrorists.
The Bangar police post in Gurdaspur was targeted on Friday, followed by a blast at the Islamabad police station in Amritsar on Tuesday. Another explosion occurred outside the Bakshiwal police post, also in Gurdaspur.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in any of the incidents. Investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible and assess the motives behind the attacks.
Unverified Post Claims Khalistan Zindabad Force Behind Punjab Blasts
An unverified social media post claims that the terror group Khalistan Zindabad Force has taken responsibility for the recent explosions in Punjab.
Sources suggest the terrorists had traveled to Pilibhit, located about 750 km from Gurdaspur, in search of a hideout in the area, which has a significant Sikh population. However, Uttar Pradesh police reported receiving full cooperation from the local community during the operation.
