Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 Live Updates
New Delhi: The vote count for the Lok Sabha elections has commenced, determining whether PM Narendra Modi will return for another term or if a revitalized Opposition will emerge victorious. In the early leads, the NDA has surpassed the majority mark, but the INDIA bloc remains competitive.
As the vote count for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections commenced on Tuesday morning, the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) surged ahead in the early trends, leading in over 250 parliamentary seats. Meanwhile, the opposition INDIA bloc was showing a strong performance, leading in around 150 seats. This comes after a grueling election held in seven phases, staggered between April 11 and May 19.
The counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections, covering 543 constituencies, begins on June 4. Notably, the Surat seat in Gujarat has already been secured uncontested by the BJP after the Congress nominee’s papers were rejected and other candidates withdrew from the race.
Among the key constituencies is Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, where PM Narendra Modi is aiming for a third consecutive term as MP. Modi chose this seat as his entry point to national politics in 2014. Attention is focused on whether the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will return to power or if the Opposition’s INDIA bloc can defy exit poll predictions.
All major exit polls released after the seventh and final phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections concluded on June 1 predict a third term for the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). According to these polls, the NDA is expected to secure close to 360 seats. Conversely, the INDIA bloc is projected to win around 150 seats. However, parties within the INDIA bloc have dismissed these predictions, labeling the exit polls as bogus.
