Former Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli recently got a new tattoo on his arm ahead of the Indian Premier League 2023. Known for his love of tattoos, Kohli has several inked on his body, which his fans adore. Naturally, when they noticed the star player sporting a new tattoo, many were eager to learn its significance. His tattoo artist has now revealed the meaning behind the new ink, highlighting an aspect of Kohli’s personality.
“King Kohli” was tattooed by Sunny Bhanushali, the owner and founder of Aliens Tattoo. Bhanushali shared that Kohli had visited their studio a few years ago with photos of their work on his phone, mentioning that he had been following them for over two years. “I could hardly believe it – this cricket superstar was actually a fan of our work! Despite his immense fame, Virat was incredibly humble and down-to-earth. He had no airs or attitude and genuinely appreciated our work and wanted me to work on his next tattoo,” Bhanushali said.
However, due to busy schedules, the project was delayed. Last month, Kohli contacted Bhanushali with a special request to cover up an old tattoo with a new one. “He wanted a new tattoo that would reflect his spirituality, something that would represent the interconnectedness of all things and the source of creation itself, something that depicts higher unity and oneness, the structure of life, and the source of all,” Bhanushali commented.
“He was clearly invested in this tattoo, striving for absolute perfection. I devoted myself to the design, putting my heart and soul into every detail,” he emphasized.
“On the day of the tattoo session, the studio was closed off, with armed security guards ensuring utmost safety,” the website reported. “Throughout the hours, Virat was fully engrossed in the process, admiring the intricate dot work and the seamless integration of each design element.”
Due to his packed schedule, Virat had to split the tattooing process into two sessions. The first session took place at the Mumbai studio, lasting six hours, followed by an eight-hour session at the Bangalore studio. Despite the extended hours and the physical discomfort inherent in tattooing, Virat remained unfazed and never once expressed fatigue, according to Mr. Bhanushali.
Once the procedure concluded, “Virat gazed at his new tattoo with a sense of awe and admiration.” The tattoo artist reflected, “He understood that this tattoo would accompany him throughout his life, serving as a profound symbol of his spiritual journey and his connection to something greater.”
