On the night of the crime, Sanjay Roy was drinking with a friend.
Sanjay Roy, the man accused of raping and murdering a 31-year-old doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, reportedly confessed to the crime during a polygraph test on Sunday.
During the lie detector test, Sanjay Roy informed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that he had visited a red-light district with a friend just hours before the crime. However, he claimed he did not engage in any sexual activity.
According to India Today, Sanjay Roy also confessed to molesting another woman on the street. The channel reported that Roy video-called his girlfriend and asked for nude photos.
On the night of the crime, Sanjay Roy had drinks with a friend before heading to a red-light district. They later went to Chetla, another red-light area in South Kolkata.
While on their way to Chetla, they allegedly molested a girl. They then returned to the hospital, where Sanjay Roy went to the corridor near the seminar hall at 4:03 am.
According to India Today, after allegedly raping and murdering the woman, Sanjay Roy went to the house of his friend, Anupam Dutta, who is a police officer.
Meanwhile, a report by The Times of India stated that Sanjay Roy gave misleading responses during the polygraph test, which were detected by the machine. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) created a psychoanalytic profile of the accused, revealing that he was severely addicted to pornography, with several pornographic clips found on his phone.
The victim had gone to the seminar hall to rest when she was raped and murdered. Her body showed 25 external and internal injuries, and she was smothered to death.
The CBI is also investigating the involvement of Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of the medical college. He underwent a lie detector test on Saturday.
Last week, the Supreme Court inquired why the Kolkata Police took more than 12 hours to register the FIR. It also noted that Dr. Sandip Ghosh attempted to classify the rape and murder as a suicide. Additionally, the agency is investigating allegations of financial irregularities involving Sandip Ghosh.
