On Wednesday, Delhi and several northern Indian states felt mild tremors following a 5.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Pakistan.
The quake, centered approximately 25 kilometers southwest of Karor, occurred at a depth of 33 kilometers and was felt in major cities such as Islamabad and Lahore.
Residents in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir reported feeling the tremors, which extended as far as Afghanistan.
This earthquake is the second instance of seismic activity impacting Delhi and its surrounding areas within two weeks, following a magnitude 5.7 quake that hit Afghanistan on August 29 at a depth of 255 kilometers.
Delhi’s location in a seismically active region, near the Himalayas, makes it particularly susceptible to earthquakes.
