The recent Israeli strikes targeting Hezbollah, including the killing of its leader Hassan Nasrallah, along with attacks on the Houthis, have escalated tensions in the region and increased the potential for the conflict to spread in West Asia.
As Israel intensified its strikes on Iranian-backed groups Hezbollah, Houthis, and Hamas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, stating that “terrorism has no place in our world” and affirming India’s support for efforts to restore peace swiftly.
Modi emphasized three key priorities: preventing regional escalation, ensuring the safe release of all hostages, and achieving an early return to peace and stability.

Following his phone call with Netanyahu, Prime Minister Modi shared a post on X, stating that they discussed the “recent developments” in West Asia. “Terrorism has no place in our world. It’s essential to prevent regional escalation and secure the safe release of all hostages. India remains committed to supporting efforts for the swift restoration of peace and stability,” he wrote.
In the past year, the two leaders have had at least four conversations, particularly after Israel launched a military offensive against Hamas in Gaza following the October 7 attacks.
