“Attack on Hindu Temple in Canada: India voiced strong disappointment on Monday over the recent violence at a Hindu temple in Brampton, Canada, stating it was ‘deeply disappointed to see such disruptions allowed’ during routine consular operations. Expressing concern over security lapses, India questioned, ‘On whose demand are such events organized in the first place?'”
This development follows the November 3 incident in which Khalistani extremists stormed the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, assaulting devotees and vandalizing property.
According to a statement from the High Commission of India in Ottawa, similar incidents were reported across the country. “There were also attempts to disrupt camps held in Vancouver and Surrey on November 2-3,” the press release stated.
India questioned the Canadian security arrangements, saying “In light of these incidents, and with the continued threats posed to the Indian diplomats & officials…organization of further scheduled consular camps will be contingent on security arrangements made for them by local authorities.”
Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau thanked the police for their prompt response. In a post on X, he wrote, “The acts of violence at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton today are unacceptable. Every Canadian has the right to practice their faith freely and safely. Thank you to the Peel Regional Police for responding swiftly to protect the community and investigate this incident.”
