Kiren Rijiju Calls for Unity Against ‘Anti-India Forces,’ Urges Congress to Take Allegations Seriously
Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Monday emphasized that the alleged links between the Congress party and Hungarian-American businessman George Soros should be taken “seriously.” He called on the opposition to unite against “anti-India forces” and not view the matter through a “political lens.”
Addressing Congress leaders and workers, Rijiju said, “Even if their own party leaders are found to be working in tandem with anti-India forces, they should raise their voice against them.” He made the statement ahead of the Parliament session in Delhi.
Rijiju’s remarks follow allegations by the BJP that former Congress president Sonia Gandhi has connections to an organization funded by the George Soros Foundation, which has reportedly supported the idea of Kashmir as an independent nation.
Rijiju further stated that the government does not consider this issue a matter of party politics.
Rijiju on Parliamentary Discussions and BJP’s Allegations Against Sonia Gandhi
Rijiju stated, “We have informed Congress and other parties that discussions on the Constitution will take place on December 13 and 14 in the Lok Sabha, and on December 16 and 17 in the Rajya Sabha.”
BJP’s Allegations of Sonia Gandhi-George Soros Connection
On Sunday, the BJP alleged that former Congress president Sonia Gandhi serves as the co-president of the Forum of the Democratic Leaders in Asia Pacific (FDL-AP) Foundation, an organization reportedly linked to the George Soros Foundation.
The BJP claimed that the FDL-AP Foundation has expressed views recognizing Kashmir as a separate entity, raising concerns about its alignment with India’s national interests.
The ruling BJP has repeatedly accused George Soros of being an anti-national force, with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar describing him as “old, opinionated, and dangerous” in February 2023.
On Thursday, BJP MP Sambit Patra escalated the rhetoric by calling Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi a “traitor of the highest order” and accusing him of plotting to “destabilize” the country.
Patra also implicated Rahul Gandhi, George Soros, and the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), describing them as part of a “dangerous triangle.”
