Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday hailed U.S. Vice President-elect JD Vance’s victory as a historic moment, emphasizing that it will elevate Usha Chilukuri Vance, a woman of Telugu heritage, to the role of Second Lady of the United States.
Usha Vance, wife of JD Vance, has family roots in Vadluru, a village near the well-known Godavari town of Tanuku in West Godavari district, approximately 35 km from the district headquarters of Bhimavaram.
Following the Trump-Vance victory, Usha Vance, 38, is set to become America’s Second Lady, marking the first time an Indian-American has held this position.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to JD Vance on becoming the U.S. Vice President-elect. His win is historic as Usha Vance, with deep roots in Andhra Pradesh, will be the first woman of Telugu heritage to serve as Second Lady of the United States,” Mr. Naidu posted on X.
Describing this as a moment of pride for the global Telugu community, Mr. Naidu expressed his eagerness to invite JD and Usha Vance to visit Andhra Pradesh.
Earlier, the Chief Minister congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, wishing him success in his new term.
The Chief Minister remarked that Mr. Trump’s election would further enhance India-U.S. relations.
“I congratulate Donald Trump on his victory in the U.S. Presidential Elections and wish him success as he prepares to lead his country forward. His first term saw substantial strengthening of the Indo-U.S. partnership,” Mr. Naidu posted on X.
TDP Chief Naidu expressed confidence that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mr. Trump, India and the U.S. will achieve even greater cooperation.
