Accenture faces social media scrutiny following the tragic suicide of a Bengaluru techie that has shocked the nation.
IT giant Accenture became the target of social media backlash following the suicide of a 34-year-old software engineer in Bengaluru, who left behind a 40-page note accusing his wife of mental harassment and extortion.
The techie’s tragic death has ignited widespread outrage online after a video he recorded, recounting his ordeal, went viral. Social media users claimed that the techie’s wife, accused of driving him to suicide, worked at Accenture and called on the company to terminate her employment.
Social media users shared screenshots allegedly from the wife’s LinkedIn profile, claiming she worked as an analyst at Accenture. Furious posts flooded the company’s X account, demanding strict action against her.
One user wrote, “Dear @Accenture, you have 24 hours to fire. Your time starts now.” Following the backlash, the company’s account was made private.
HT.com has contacted Accenture for a statement and will update this report upon receiving a response.
Allegations of Extortion
The techie, originally from Uttar Pradesh, had alleged that he was a victim of extortion by his wife and her family. According to his claims, they were demanding ₹3 crore to resolve ongoing legal disputes.
Marathahalli police have registered a case against the wife, her mother, brother, and uncle. “We have booked them under Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 108 (abetment of suicide) and initiated an investigation,” said Marathahalli police inspector Anil Kumar earlier today.
Shared Plea for Help
Before his death, the techie shared his now-viral suicide note with the Save Indian Family Foundation, narrating his emotional and financial struggles in a heartfelt video.
Overwhelmed by Legal Battles
Married in 2019 after connecting through a matrimonial website, the couple’s relationship began to deteriorate by 2021. The 34-year-old claimed that his wife left their Bengaluru home with their son, and shortly thereafter, her family allegedly started demanding large sums of money. He also faced over 40 legal cases initiated by his wife, adding to his distress.
When he refused to meet their demands, his wife reportedly filed multiple cases against him, accusing him and his family of attempted murder, dowry harassment, and sexual misconduct.
In his final note, the techie pleaded for justice for his family and expressed a heartfelt wish for a gift he had purchased for his four-year-old son to be delivered to him after his death, according to police.
Police revealed that the man received over 40 court notices within a year, compelling him to frequently travel between Bengaluru and Uttar Pradesh.
