“Mumbai: A 25-year-old Air India pilot was found dead in her rented flat, reportedly hanging herself with a data cable. The incident occurred after her boyfriend allegedly pressured her to stop consuming non-vegetarian food.”
“Srishti Tuli, a resident of the Kanakia Rain Forest building in Marol, died by suicide in the early hours of Monday. Her 27-year-old boyfriend, Aditya Pandit, has been arrested on charges of abetment, according to police.
Pandit was taken into custody on Tuesday following a complaint from one of Tuli’s relatives, who alleged that he had harassed, abused, and pressured her to quit eating non-vegetarian food, as stated in the FIR.”
“An official from Powai police station stated that Srishti Tuli, originally from Uttar Pradesh, had been living in Mumbai for work since June last year. She met Aditya Pandit two years ago while they were both pursuing a commercial pilot course in Delhi, and the two began a relationship.”
“The incident came to light when Aditya Pandit, en route to Delhi by car, received a call from Srishti Tuli, during which she expressed her intent to end her life, according to an official. Pandit immediately returned to Mumbai and found her flat locked from the inside.
With the help of a key maker, he managed to open the door and discovered Tuli hanging with a data cable. She was rushed to SevenHills Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. No suicide note was recovered from the residence, the official added.”
“Tuli’s uncle later filed a complaint with the police, alleging that Aditya Pandit frequently harassed her and publicly humiliated her. He also claimed that Pandit pressured Tuli to change her eating habits, according to an official.
Based on the uncle’s complaint, Pandit was arrested under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (abetment of suicide). He was presented in court, which remanded him to police custody for four days, the official added.”
