Amit Shah condemned Mallikarjun Kharge’s remark about PM Narendra Modi as “distasteful and disgraceful.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday criticized Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge for his remark about PM Narendra Modi, accusing him of “unnecessarily” involving the Prime Minister in his personal health issues.
During a poll rally on Sunday, Mallikarjun Kharge nearly fainted while addressing the crowd. As he regained his strength, he remarked that he wouldn’t die before seeing Modi removed from power.
Amit Shah labeled the comment “distasteful and disgraceful.”
“Yesterday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge Ji outdid himself, his leaders, and his party in delivering a distasteful and disgraceful speech. In a spiteful display, he needlessly dragged PM Modi into his personal health matters by stating he would only die after removing PM Modi from power,” Amit Shah wrote on X.
Shah added that the remark revealed the level of hatred and fear “these Congress leaders have for PM Modi,” noting that they are constantly preoccupied with thoughts of him.
“Regarding Kharge Ji’s health, Modi Ji prays, I pray, and we all pray for his long and healthy life. May he continue to live for many years and witness the creation of a developed India by 2047,” he added.
What did Mallikarjun Kharge say?
Mallikarjun Kharge experienced a “syncopal attack (fainting)” during the rally but resumed his speech after a brief pause. He stated that he wouldn’t die before Prime Minister Narendra Modi was removed from power.
“I am 83 years old. I’m not going to die so soon. I will stay alive until PM Modi is ousted,” Kharge said as he continued his speech.
“I wanted to speak, but due to dizziness, I had to sit down. Please forgive me,” he added.
Later, Kharge went to the Kathua district hospital for a checkup.
“He experienced a syncopal attack (fainting) and was brought in for evaluation. He was suffering from excessive sweating,” a doctor told PTI.
