AAP leaders Saurabh Bharadwaj and Sanjay Singh staged a dharna after being denied entry to the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over a standoff between its leaders and Delhi Police personnel outside the Chief Minister’s residence, calling it a “blatant display of anarchy.”
“The reality of this monument of corruption is now being exposed to the public. The events unfolding today, along with the behavior displayed by AAP MP Sanjay Singh and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, show that no matter what they do, they cannot shield Arvind Kejriwal’s so-called ‘museum of corruption,’ the ‘Sheesh Mahal.’ Their actions today are nothing short of a blatant display of anarchy,” BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi was quoted as saying by ANI.
AAP Leaders Stage Dharna After Being Denied Entry to CM’s Residence
Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh marched to the Chief Minister’s official residence to counter BJP’s allegations of a ‘Sheesh Mahal.’ However, they were stopped by police personnel from entering the premises.
“We came here to settle this debate of ‘your house, my house.’ We proposed that both the PM’s residence and the CM’s residence should be shown to the public. That’s why we came here,” said Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj after being denied entry.
Following the denial, Bharadwaj and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh staged a dharna outside the Chief Minister’s residence. The duo also engaged in heated arguments with the police personnel stationed outside the bungalow.
Meanwhile, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi criticized the AAP’s actions, stating, “Today’s behavior by the AAP is a glaring example of their irresponsible, irrational, and anarchic conduct.”
Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva criticized AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Saurabh Bharadwaj, accusing them of engaging in theatrics to divert attention from allegations of corruption and irregularities in the construction of the ‘Sheesh Mahal’—the official residence at 6, Flagstaff Road, occupied by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
“Why didn’t they think of showcasing the Sheesh Mahal earlier? Now, they insist on a visit when the administration is bound by the model code of conduct,” Sachdeva remarked.
Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, with vote counting set for February 8.
