Speaking in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared a remarkable success story from the recently concluded Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. He revealed that a boatman and his family earned ₹30 crore in just 45 days, with their fleet of 130 boats generating an average profit of ₹23 lakh each during the grand religious gathering.

“A boatman’s family, owning 130 boats, earned a total of ₹30 crore in just 45 days during the Maha Kumbh. This means each boat generated around ₹23 lakh, averaging ₹50,000-52,000 per day,” said CM Yogi Adityanath.
CM Yogi Highlights Maha Kumbh’s Economic Impact, Dismisses Discrimination Allegations
During a discussion on the 2025-26 annual budget in the legislative assembly on Tuesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the economic significance of the Maha Kumbh. He noted that the grand event, attended by people from over 100 countries, transcended caste, regional, and religious barriers, exemplifying a seamless blend of tradition and progress.
The Chief Minister also rejected allegations of discrimination at the Maha Kumbh, asserting that the event was inclusive and a testament to Uttar Pradesh’s global stature. Despite opposition efforts to spread misinformation, he said, the faith of devotees remained unwavering. Over 66 crore devotees and sadhus participated in the holy dip at the Sangam during the festival.

“For the opposition, Maha Kumbh devotees were merely a vote bank, but for us, they symbolize our heritage and faith. That’s why people trust our government,” remarked CM Yogi Adityanath, taking a dig at the Samajwadi Party (SP).
Maha Kumbh’s Economic Impact
Emphasizing the economic boost from the event, Yogi Adityanath estimated that the Maha Kumbh contributed ₹3.5 lakh crore to Uttar Pradesh’s economy. He detailed key economic drivers, including:
- ₹40,000 crore from the hotel industry
- ₹33,000 crore from food and daily essentials
- ₹1.5 lakh crore from transportation
- ₹20,000 crore from religious offerings
- ₹660 crore from donations
- ₹300 crore from toll tax
- ₹66,000 crore from other economic activities
