Congress Denies Involvement in Attack on Actor Allu Arjun’s House, Dismisses Allegations
Hyderabad: The Congress party has denied any connection to the attack on the residence of Pushpa 2 actor Allu Arjun, which reportedly stemmed from the Hyderabad theatre stampede incident that claimed a woman’s life earlier this month.
The clarification came after unverified social media posts emerged, allegedly linking the main accused in the Sunday evening attack to Telangana Congress Chief Revanth Reddy.
“None of them are associated with Congress. If any connection is found, those individuals will be disqualified from the party,” Congress spokesperson Sama Ram Mohan Reddy told NDTV.
Massive Protest Erupts Outside Allu Arjun’s Hyderabad Home
A large group of protesters, claiming to be students from Osmania University, staged a demonstration outside actor Allu Arjun’s residence in Hyderabad on Sunday.
The protesters barged into the property, throwing tomatoes and smashing flower pots inside the house, creating chaos.
Protesters Demand Compensation from Allu Arjun for Woman’s Death, Attack Actor’s House
The protesters also reportedly chanted slogans of “we want justice” and demanded that Allu Arjun pay ₹1 crore in compensation to the family of the woman who died in the December 4 incident.
Following the disturbance, police arrested six individuals, who were granted bail by a local court today.
Telangana Congress leader Revanth Reddy condemned the attack on the actor’s residence and instructed the state Director General of Police and the city police commissioner to take a “tough” stance on maintaining law and order.
Revanth Reddy’s Allegations Against Allu Arjun Over ‘Pushpa 2’ Premiere Incident
Last week, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy accused Allu Arjun of attending the premiere of Pushpa 2 despite the police’s refusal to grant permission, a claim that the actor denied.
Reddy alleged that before entering and leaving the theater, the actor stood through the sunroof of his car, waving to the crowd in a roadshow. This reportedly caused thousands of fans to rush towards him, resulting in a stampede-like situation when Allu Arjun’s private security pushed the crowd aside.
The Congress leader further claimed that the theater management initially blocked a police officer from meeting the actor to advise him to leave due to the escalating situation. However, the officer later reached the actor and requested his departure, stating that the crowd would not disperse unless he left.
A senior police officer who arrived at the scene instructed the actor to leave immediately, threatening to take him to the police station if the situation was not controlled. The officer reportedly had to physically escort the actor out of the theater. Despite this, Reddy said Allu Arjun waved at the crowd as he left, which he argued contributed to further chaos. A video surfaced showing the police escorting the actor from the venue.
In response, Allu Arjun refuted the allegations, stating that the police were clearing the way for him and that he had followed their directions. He also denied the claim of a roadshow, saying it was simply a crowd gathered a few meters from the theater.
“Had there been no permission, the police would have told us to leave, and as a law-abiding citizen, I would have followed their instructions. There was no such information given to me. I was following the guidance of the police, and it was not a roadshow or procession,” Allu Arjun said at a press conference on Saturday.
Stampede During ‘Pushpa 2’ Screening in Hyderabad Leaves One Dead, Son Injured
A stampede occurred at a theater in Hyderabad during the screening of Pushpa 2 when Allu Arjun visited the venue. The incident resulted in the death of a woman and left her nine-year-old son, Sri Tej, critically injured.
In response, the Hyderabad police have filed a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theater management.
The theater owner, general manager, and security manager were arrested on December 8, with Allu Arjun’s arrest occurring five days later. The actor was granted bail on December 14.
