New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday praised the strengthening relationship between India and Germany, highlighting recent collaborations as a testament to their growing partnership.
Speaking at the 18th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business 2024, PM Modi noted, “On one side, the CEO Forum is meeting here, and on the other, our navies are conducting joint exercises. German naval ships have arrived in Goa, and shortly, the seventh round of inter-governmental consultations between India and Germany will commence.”
“This shows the friendship between India and Germany is growing deeper at every level, on every front,” he added.
PM Modi also pointed out that this year marks 25 years of the India-Germany strategic partnership and expressed confidence that the coming 25 years will elevate this partnership to even greater heights.
“This year marks the 25th anniversary of the India-Germany Strategic Partnership. Over the next 25 years, this partnership will reach new heights as we work toward a roadmap for a developed India,” PM Modi stated.
He welcomed Germany’s “Focus on India” document released by the German Cabinet, emphasizing it as a comprehensive plan for collaboration between two major democracies and leading economies to advance global well-being. “At this crucial juncture, the release of the Focus on India document is especially meaningful. It’s a blueprint showcasing how two strong democracies can join forces for global good, reflecting our commitment to a holistic strategic partnership. The trust Germany places in India’s skilled workforce is truly remarkable,” he said.
PM Modi expressed confidence that Germany’s decision to increase visas for skilled Indian workers will contribute to Germany’s economic growth. “Germany has raised its annual visa quota for skilled Indians from 20,000 to 90,000, a step that I believe will greatly boost Germany’s growth,” he remarked.
“Our mutual trade now surpasses $30 billion. Today, hundreds of German companies are active in India, and Indian companies are expanding their footprint in Germany. As India becomes a major hub for diversification and global trade, this is the perfect moment for you to ‘Make in India, Make for the World,’” PM Modi added.
