Actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda has been hospitalized after accidentally injuring his leg with his own revolver, according to a report by PTI quoting the Mumbai Police.
He is receiving treatment at CritiCare Hospital, while the police have seized the weapon and are investigating the incident. The accident occurred around 4:45 am as the 60-year-old actor was preparing to leave for Kolkata.
Speaking to indianexpress.com, Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, confirmed that he is stable and undergoing treatment. She added that she was on her way to the hospital, traveling back to Mumbai.
Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, informed ANI that the actor accidentally shot himself while attempting to put his licensed revolver back in its case. The gun slipped from his hand and discharged. “The doctor has removed the bullet, and his condition is stable. He is currently in the hospital,” Sinha told ANI.
