Delhi Police has uncovered an illegal immigration racket involving Bangladeshi nationals as part of their investigation into the Sangam Vihar murder case. DCP Ankit Chauhan of South District reported that five Bangladeshi nationals were arrested, along with six individuals accused of forging fake documents.
The breakthrough came when it was revealed that the murder victim, Seton Sheikh, had been helping Bangladeshi immigrants create fake Aadhaar cards. Suspicions fell on Sheikh’s associates, leading to confessions that the murder was driven by financial disputes and personal grudges.
During the operation, police recovered 21 fake Aadhaar cards, six PAN cards, and four voter IDs.
Further investigations revealed the role of a website called Janata Prints, run by Rajat Mishra since 2022. This platform allegedly facilitated the creation of forged documents for as little as Rs 20.
Among those arrested is Munni Devi, suspected of assisting the syndicate. Officials revealed that the organized network helps Bangladeshi immigrants enter India via forest routes, providing them with fake IDs, SIM cards, and financial support.
Police are also investigating cross-border connections and have deployed personnel to Bangladesh for further inquiry.
The potential use of forged voter cards in electoral fraud is still under investigation.
