New Delhi: Comedian Kapil Sharma has received a death threat via email originating from Pakistan, according to police reports. He joins the list of celebrities, including Rajpal Yadav, Sugandha Mishra, and Remo D’Souza, who have also recently been targeted with similar threats.
An FIR has been registered with Amboli Police against an unidentified individual under Section 351(3) of BNS, and an investigation is currently in progress.
Police confirmed that the threatening email, signed by someone identifying as “BISHNU,” warned, “We are monitoring your recent activities and believe it is important to bring a sensitive matter to your attention. This is not a publicity stunt or an attempt to harass you. We urge you to treat this message with utmost seriousness and confidentiality.”
The sender demanded a response from the celebrities within eight hours, threatening severe personal and professional consequences for non-compliance.
Kapil Sharma Files Complaint Over Threat Email; Mumbai Police Intensify Investigation Amid Rising Celebrity Attacks
Comedian Kapil Sharma recently lodged a police complaint after receiving a threatening email. Prior to him, Sugandha Mishra and Remo D’Souza had also approached the police over identical emails. Actor Rajpal Yadav received a similar email on December 14 last year, but it went unnoticed in his spam folder until he filed a complaint on December 17.
Mumbai Police are treating these complaints with high priority, as multiple celebrities have been targeted in recent incidents.
In a separate case last October, politician Baba Siddique was shot dead near his Bandra residence. The attack was claimed by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, prompting heightened security for Salman Khan, who subsequently installed bulletproof windows in his balcony.
More recently, actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder at his Bandra home in the early hours of Thursday. He sustained six stab wounds, and doctors removed a 2.5-inch knife blade from one of them. After receiving treatment at Lilavati Hospital, Saif returned home on Tuesday evening (January 21).
The actor greeted fans and paparazzi gathered outside his residence and also expressed gratitude to Bhajan Singh Rana, the auto driver who rushed him to the hospital following the attack.
