Maha Kumbh 2025 Concludes: When and Where is the Next Kumbh Mela?
New Delhi: The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings, wrapped up on Wednesday after 45 days of spiritual celebrations in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
This year’s event set a historic record, with nearly 66 crore devotees taking a dip at the Triveni Sangam—the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. Remarkably, the number of pilgrims was almost twice the population of the United States (around 34 crore).
When is the Next Kumbh Mela?
The next Kumbh Mela will be held in 2027 in Nashik, Maharashtra, at Trimbakeshwar, about 38 km from Nashik. This sacred city, situated along the Godavari River—India’s second-longest river—is home to the revered Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas.
According to reports, Kumbh Mela 2027 will take place from July 17 to August 17.
Speaking at the NASSCOM Technology and Leadership Forum 2025 in Mumbai, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis revealed ambitious plans to integrate cutting-edge technology into the 2027 Nashik Kumbh Mela. He emphasized that technology would enable those unable to attend in person to experience the sacred bath virtually.
Why is the Next Kumbh Mela in Just Three Years?
