Joe Root and Harry Brook shattered the record for the highest fourth-wicket partnership in Test cricket during England’s first Test against Pakistan on Thursday at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
Root and Brook established a remarkable 454-run partnership, surpassing the previous record of 449 runs set by Adam Voges and Shaun Marsh for Australia against the West Indies in Hobart in 2015.
This marked the third occasion in Test cricket where two batters scored 250 or more runs in the same innings.
Root was dismissed after achieving his highest Test score of 262, while Brook remains at the crease, having recorded his first 250-plus score. Pakistan set a target of 556 after choosing to bat first, and England has surpassed 700 runs in their response on the fourth day.
