Canadian Member of Parliament Chandra Arya, a vocal advocate against attacks on Hindus, has accused Khalistani extremists of crossing a critical line with their recent attack on the Hindu temple in Brampton.
Videos circulating on social media depict groups of protesters, including Khalistan supporters and others waving the Indian national flag, clashing on the grounds of the Hindu Sabha Mandir temple.
“The attack by Khalistanis on Hindu-Canadian devotees at the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton illustrates the depth and audacity of Khalistani violent extremism in Canada,” Arya stated. He expressed concerns that “there may be some truth to reports suggesting that Khalistanis have infiltrated not only the Canadian political apparatus but also our law enforcement agencies.”
Arya further alleged that under the guise of ‘freedom of expression,’ Khalistani extremists are being given a free pass in Canada and called on Hindu-Canadians to assert their rights and hold politicians accountable for their safety.
In a video accompanying his post on X, individuals carrying Khalistani flags can be seen entering the temple grounds and attacking those present with sticks and flags.
Meanwhile, the Indian High Commission has accused ‘anti-India elements’ of violently disrupting routine consular activities at a camp co-organized by the Hindu Sabha Mandir, describing the situation as “deeply disappointing.”
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation from various political leaders, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, opposition leader Pierre Poilievre, and Toronto MP Kevin Vuong.
This event occurs amid strained relations between Canada and India, following Trudeau’s claims of “credible allegations” linking Indian government agents to the death of Khalistani separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
