RG Kar Case Update: The Enforcement Directorate is currently raiding the homes of Sandip Ghosh and Biplab Singha, both of whom are currently in CBI custody.
RG Kar News: Trouble deepens for Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) intensifies its focus on him. Following his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the RG Kar corruption case, the ED has dispatched a team to raid his Kolkata residence.
Early Friday morning, ED officials, along with Central forces, arrived at Ghosh’s Beleghata residence. Security personnel have surrounded the house, and ED officers have been stationed outside since 6:25 AM. However, the door has not yet been opened to allow them entry.
Sandip Ghosh is currently in CBI custody, and attempts to reach his family members inside the house have been unsuccessful. His residence is one of six locations being raided by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Simultaneously, ED officials are also searching the home of medical supplies vendor Biplab Singha in Sankrail, Howrah. Both Sandip Ghosh and Biplab Singha were previously arrested by the CBI in connection with alleged corruption at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
Another raid is underway at the residence of Kaushik Koley, a close associate of Biplab Singha, who lives nearby. Biplab Singha faces accusations of irregularities in the hospital’s tender process, allegedly in exchange for bribes. According to the CBI, vendors Biplab Singha and Suman Hajra, along with Sandip Ghosh, were key figures in the corruption scandal at RG Kar Hospital.
Sources also report that the home of Prasoon Chatterjee, a data entry operator at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, is being searched as part of the expanding investigation.
The ED has now joined the CBI in probing the alleged corruption, widening the investigation. The CBI took over the case after the Calcutta High Court ordered a central agency to investigate, following a plea by Akhtar Ali, a former deputy superintendent at RG Kar Medical College, who had sought an ED investigation. However, the court assigned the case to the CBI, which was already investigating the alleged rape and murder of a doctor at the institution.
