Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Unveils Plans to Support Telugu Film Industry, Appoints Dil Raju as FDC Chairman, and Forms Cabinet Sub-Committee
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy recently outlined key measures to support the growth and prosperity of the Telugu film industry in an address to its members.
CM Reddy acknowledged the industry’s concerns, stating, “The film industry brought their issues to the government’s attention, sharing doubts, misconceptions, and suggestions during the meeting.”
Telangana Government’s Measures for Telugu Cinema
To address the concerns of the Telugu film industry, the Telangana government has already taken proactive steps, including issuing special orders for eight films and providing police assistance for the filming of Pushpa-2. Additionally, the government plans to create a new brand identity for the Telugu film industry to ensure its long-term growth.
In a bid to strengthen coordination between the government and the industry, renowned film producer Dil Raju has been appointed Chairman of the Film Development Corporation (FDC).
The Chief Minister also announced plans to tackle the industry’s challenges through a Cabinet Sub-Committee, which will work in collaboration with an industry-led committee.
CM Reddy Announces Cabinet Sub-Committee to Address Telugu Film Industry Issues
“A Cabinet Sub-Committee will be formed to resolve the issues facing the Telugu film industry, and the industry will also establish its own committee,” said CM Reddy.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, CM Reddy encouraged the film industry to help promote eco-tourism and temple tourism in the state. He also highlighted Hyderabad’s competitive advantage, stating, “Mumbai became the hub of Bollywood due to favorable conditions there. Hyderabad is the best city among all cosmopolitan cities.”
The Chief Minister also shared plans to attract both Bollywood and Hollywood to Hyderabad. Efforts are underway to host major conferences aimed at encouraging global film industries to establish a presence in the city. “The government’s main objective is to take the film industry to the next level,” Reddy added.
Amit Malviya Criticizes Telangana Government
Meanwhile, BJP leader Amit Malviya criticized CM Reddy, alleging that the Congress-led government in Telangana is targeting Tollywood due to resistance from superstars against the Chief Minister’s supposed attempts to exert control and “extract money.”
In a post on X, Malviya alleged, “A troubling situation is unfolding in Telangana under the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government. The administration seems to be targeting Tollywood, one of India’s largest and most vibrant film industries, reportedly because Telugu superstars and producers have refused to bow to the Chief Minister’s attempts to control and extract money from them.”
He added, “The controversy began with the demolition of superstar Nagarjuna’s convention center in Hyderabad. Soon after, a sitting woman cabinet minister launched a personal attack on Samantha Prabhu, Nagarjuna’s now-estranged daughter-in-law and a successful actress in her own right. The harassment campaign later extended to veteran actor Mohan Babu, with his son allegedly being used to settle political scores. Most recently, Allu Arjun, another prominent Tollywood figure, has found himself in the crosshairs.”
