Last week, two soldiers and two civilians lost their lives in a terrorist ambush on army vehicles in Baramulla district.
An Indian Army vehicle was attacked in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor on Monday morning, but alert soldiers successfully foiled the attack.
“An army vehicle came under fire in the Battal area of Akhnoor. No injuries or casualties were reported, and a search operation has been initiated,” stated Army officials.
“Alert troops successfully thwarted what appeared to be a terror attack,” they noted.
Last week, a terrorist ambush on army vehicles in Baramulla district resulted in the deaths of two soldiers and two civilians.
Officials reported that a convoy transporting personnel from a Rashtriya Rifles unit and civilian porters was en route to the Nagin post in the Afrawat range when terrorists opened fire on two army trucks in Botapathri, approximately 6 km from the tourist hotspot of Gulmarg.
Just days prior, terrorists shot and killed a local doctor along with six non-local laborers at a tunnel construction site in the Gagangir area of Ganderbal.
On Saturday, the Indian Army’s Romeo Force, in collaboration with the Special Operations Group (SOG) police, dismantled a terror hideout in the Balnoi sector of Poonch.
A series of terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir over the past two weeks have resulted in the deaths of over a dozen individuals, unsettling the peace in the union territory just weeks after its assembly elections.
**”Bloodshed will be avenged.”** Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated on Saturday that every drop of innocent blood spilled in the valley will be avenged, and all available resources will be employed to dismantle the terror ecosystem, according to ANI.
“Unfortunately, we have a neighbor that has engaged in terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir since independence. Despite the poverty and hunger faced by its citizens, it continues its unholy actions of supporting terrorism and trafficking narcotics,” he remarked.
Referring to the recent terror attacks in Ganderbal and Baramulla districts, the Lieutenant Governor stated that the terrorists targeted “our brave soldiers, civilians, workers engaged in infrastructure projects, and laborers from other regions.”
He emphasized, “It has been resolved that our security forces will avenge every drop of blood shed. In this context, India’s first line of defense must carry out its responsibilities with heightened vigilance.”
