New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate several key development initiatives on Friday, including 1,675 flats for residents of JJ clusters and two urban redevelopment projects in the national capital.
On his X handle, PM Modi emphasized the significance of the day for Delhi’s growth.
“Today is a pivotal day for Delhi’s development. At a program in Ashok Vihar, I will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for a variety of development projects aimed at enhancing the ‘Ease of Living’ for Delhi’s residents,” he stated.
PM Modi stated that these development efforts are designed to benefit future generations. “These initiatives reflect our steadfast commitment to empowering future generations with knowledge, innovation, and opportunities, all within an environment that fosters growth and learning.”
He added, “The projects include a state-of-the-art academic block at the Eastern Campus in Surajmal Vihar, East Delhi, and another at the Western Campus in Dwarka. Additionally, we will lay the foundation for the Veer Savarkar College in Roshanpura, Najafgarh, which will be built to set a new standard of excellence in education with advanced facilities.”
According to a government press release, these initiatives align with the Prime Minister’s commitment to “Housing for All.”
Prime Minister Modi will visit the newly constructed flats for residents of Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters under the In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project at Swabhiman Apartments, Ashok Vihar, Delhi, at around 12:10 p.m. Following that, at 12:45 p.m., he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several development projects in the city.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate 1,675 newly constructed flats for JJ cluster residents and hand over keys to eligible beneficiaries at Swabhiman Apartments in Ashok Vihar.
This marks the completion of the second successful In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), aimed at providing JJ cluster residents with better and healthier living conditions, equipped with essential amenities.
For every Rs 25 lakh spent on constructing a flat, eligible beneficiaries contribute less than 7% of the total amount, which includes a nominal contribution of Rs 1.42 lakh and Rs 30,000 for five years of maintenance.
PM Modi will also inaugurate two urban redevelopment projects: the World Trade Centre (WTC) at Nauroji Nagar and the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar.
The WTC at Nauroji Nagar has revitalized the area by replacing over 600 outdated quarters with cutting-edge commercial towers, offering approximately 34 lakh square feet of premium office space with advanced amenities. The project also emphasizes sustainability, featuring green building practices, a zero-discharge concept, solar energy generation, and rainwater harvesting systems.
The GPRA Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar consist of 28 towers with over 2,500 residential units, providing modern amenities and efficient space usage. The design includes rainwater harvesting systems, sewage and water treatment plants, and solar-powered waste compactors, promoting eco-friendly living.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the CBSE Integrated Office Complex at Dwarka, Delhi, constructed at a cost of around Rs 300 crore. The complex includes office spaces, an auditorium, an advanced data center, and a comprehensive water management system.
This eco-friendly building has been built to high environmental standards and has been designed according to the Platinum Rating standards of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).
Additionally, PM Modi will lay the foundation stones for three new projects at Delhi University, valued at over Rs 600 crore. These projects include the Eastern Campus in Surajmal Vihar, East Delhi, the Western Campus in Dwarka, and the construction of Veer Savarkar College at Roshanpura, Najafgarh, which will feature state-of-the-art educational facilities.
