New Delhi: With U.S. election results signaling a decisive Republican victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Donald Trump on his return to the presidency. Calling Trump “my friend,” the Prime Minister posted on X, “Heartiest congratulations, my friend @realDonaldTrump, on your historic election victory.”
Modi added, “As you build on the successes of your previous term, I look forward to renewing our collaboration to further strengthen the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership. Together, let’s work for the betterment of our people and to promote global peace, stability, and prosperity.”
Donald Trump is on the verge of a sweeping victory in what was expected to be a tightly contested election. The Republicans managed a remarkable turnaround, winning all seven battleground states—a striking shift from 2020, when Democrats held a 6-1 advantage.
As projections signaled his likely win, Trump addressed his supporters, calling it a “magnificent victory for the American people.” Reflecting on the July 13 assassination attempt, he added, “God spared my life for a reason.”
Calling the Republican campaign the “greatest political movement of all time,” Trump declared, “We are going to help our country heal, secure our borders, and we made history tonight for a reason. This is the most incredible political victory. I want to thank the American people, and I will fight for you and your families with every breath in my body.”
Trump noted that Democrats are now facing a substantial electoral deficit, with Republicans likely reaching a commanding 315 electoral votes.
The Republican victory is even more significant as the party has gained control of the Senate and is leading in the race for the House of Representatives.
In his victory speech, Trump expressed gratitude to his supporters, running mate JD Vance, wife Melania Trump, and his children for their support throughout this challenging campaign. He also acknowledged Tesla CEO and X owner Elon Musk for his public support.
